Wat blijft | 2023
It started with an archival photo of a funeral, a moment frozen in time that made me reflect on the way we hold on to people, to memories, to the smallest things that tether us to the past. I once found myself holding on to a box of tea, a simple gift from someone who is no longer here. Only one bag remained. Drinking it felt like crossing a line, as if letting go entirely. So I didn’t. I kept that last tea bag for seven years.
Inspired by this, I sought out people who find meaning in objects that others might dismiss as insignificant. I created five zines, including one about myself, where each person shared their items and stories. For each zine, I made a collage using their objects.
