This Body, Again

This Body, Again is a visual interpretation of a self-written poem of the same name by Ariël Peper. The work explores the relationship between body, memory, and repetition, focusing on the way physical movement reveals unconscious emotions and memories. Whereas Peper's practice is usually investigative in nature, focusing on themes such as feminism, inequality, and social prejudice, This Body, Again represents a conscious shift toward a more intuitive approach.

In this project, the body functions as a carrier of knowledge: an archive that speaks through gestures, postures, and rhythms. Text fragments from Phenomenology of Perception by Maurice Merleau-Ponty serve as a source within the installation, in which Peper weaves together image and text to create a poetic space where control and surrender meet, and where meaning emerges between intention and instinct.
